A hackathon hosted by BCIT Computing Club, allowing students to showcase AI (actual intelligence)
The BCIT Computing Club is a community of over 1200 student builders. We pride ourselves on being some of the most technically capable student developers in British Columbia, not because we claim it, but because our work consistently demonstrates it.
That standard is reflected across everything we run. Our events go beyond surface-level tutorials or introductory material. We focus on how real systems are built: designing for scale, deploying to production, and reasoning about performance, security, and long-term maintainability; all delivered through high-quality programming that regularly attracts hundreds of students.
Hack the Break is the BCIT Computing Club’s flagship hackathon, a hands-on, code-first event where students build, ship, and run real software.
Students team up and spend the weekend turning ideas into working products, building projects aligned with a shared theme. Between hacking sessions, participants engage in mini-challenges, side activities, and plenty of food to keep the momentum going. The event concludes with a live demo and judging round, where the strongest projects are showcased to the entire audience and recognized for their technical execution and creativity.
